Unlock the Power of Book Marketing: Strategies to Promote and Sell Your Book
If writing and publishing a book is like giving birth to a child then book marketing is like rearing it.
-Heather Hart
After the pain of pregnancy (writing your book) and childbirth (publishing your book) comes rearing your baby (more commonly known as book marketing).
Truthfully, the skills you used to write your book
Perseverance
Commitment
Motivation
Dedication
Scheduling your time
Will serve you well throughout your book marketing efforts, too.
The first three biggies you need to complete are:
Your book cover
Your book’s back cover blurb
Your book’s sales page copy (aka book description)
Once those three are dealt with for the first time (yes, the first time, as you will revise them all over time as you learn better ways to communicate with your readers), it’s time to move on to:
Your social media campaign
Your email marketing campaign
All of this depends, of course, on your budget.
Do you have a marketing budget? If yes, then you can afford to hire out some of this work – especially the parts where you lack the expertise to do well. Things like:
Your book cover art
Your social media graphics – with images created specifically for each platform
Advertising – if you plan to run paid ads for your book(s)
Difficulty is not your greatest challenge.
Willingness to do the work required to market your book – that will be your biggest challenge. Share on X
